Masarat (Trailways) is an architectural response to the two landscapes that dominate the experience of Al-Ula: the mountains and agricultural oases. The building stiches these environments directly, bypassing the highway that divides them, to amplify the presence and accessibility of these key natural resources.

A network of pathways connects tiled, modular (S, M, L and XL) shell structures that swell and shrink to accommodate the food, sports, recreational and community-focused activities that are housed in them, while the spaces between them capture and house sheltered outdoor space—or gardens—that in themselves become new programmable assets, and micro-climates.

Masarat captures the adventurous spirit of both the people and the place, creating a dynamic and flexible environment that responds to the needs of the community and the natural beauty of the Western desert.
